AWARD-WINNING HISTORICAL NOVEL PUTS CALIFORNIA AUTHOR IN SPOTLIGHT
“DARK ROOTS” WINS LOS ANGELES BOOK AWARD
DARK ROOTS OFFERS FEAST OF LOVE, AFRICAN MYSTICISM AND TRIUMPH OF THE HUMAN SPIRIT First Novel For Former High-Tech Marketing Exec Silver Spring, MD, (December 1, 2004) Interracial relationships, black mysticism in tribal Africa, and the strong bond of family love all combine for a compelling read in a new novel, “Dark Roots,” by Jeannie Cobb. Scheduled for release on December 15, 2004 by the Beckham Publications Group, “Dark Roots” will keep readers in suspense from the first page to the last. An exciting story of main character Amber Brooks, who is African American, and Clayton, her white boyfriend, the narrative takes the couple from the corporate boardroom of San Francisco, back in time to 1840s slavery-era America in a frantic search for Amber’s brother, James, an anthropologist whose near-fanatic interest in the African slave trade leads to his disappearance on the Dark Continent. Along the way, Amber and Clayton experience first-hand the power of long-held African beliefs in the supernatural, and discover the true meaning of love and life. First-time author Jeannie Cobb has a degree in English from Stanford University. Before she penned “Dark Roots”, she spent several years developing and marketing computers globally for various Silicon Valley companies. She has taught English as a Second Language in the Bay Area. Ms. Cobb spends time with her husband and four children between their homes in San Jose, California and her hometown of South Bend, Indiana. She says she has wanted to write since grade school, and is already at work on a second novel.
